inner city planting and growing on lots

Would it be great if people would buy private lots in the inner city and turn their own private lots into farm or just a field of lavender or wheat field. The land would be their own private Idaho. It would be good for the block and people could walk by and enjoy looking at the green land. Why does every lot have to be build on? People should get together to buy a lot for themselves and turn it into their own private IDAHO. This would be their get away. It would be their forever. They can become green designer of their land.
